Hi,
I bought my son a TGE Group HB500 MP4 Video Player for Christmas, but I am having trouble adding a video to it. Do you know if these are compatible with iTunes? We bought a movie from there...it is in a MP4 format. I tried to convert this file to a SMV file, but it tells me that it is missing a codec. Can you help me with this.
Thanks!!! |

Hello and welcome to the board. This mp4 player your purchased is not compatible with Apple's iTunes. But you should be able to convert the mp4 videos you downloaded to your mp4 player.
1. First since you are getting a 'missing codec' error, I suggest that you download this program from our website and install it so that you will have most video audio codecs that are available today. Click on the link below to download:

2. My next question is...What format video does your MP4 player play? Is it SMV? AMV?MTV?NXV? You can download the appropriate software from our website, or....
...You should have a CD or software that came with the mp4 player, install that sofware, then convert the mp4 video that you downloaded. You can copy the converted video to your mp4 player, and it should play. |

Did you install the CODEC pack that was suggested earlier?
If you have the CD or software that came with your mp4 player, it should have the SMV converter tool, and you should be able to install the SMV software to convert the movie. _________________ etronicsland.com

| Yes, I did install the codec pack that you suggested. I don't get that error anymore. As far as installing the conversion disk...it doesn't install on my computer. The only way that I can get to anything on that disk is to go to My Computer and open it that way. Then the only thing that you can do is open the conversion tool. I copied the movie from iTunes into a folder called My Videos. With the conversion tool, I can go there and find the video and then click convert on the conversion tool and then nothing. After a little while, the conversion tool says it's not responding. Any other suggestions?????? |

I think that you may not be doing something properly. This is what I suggest.
A. Download the SMV Converter from our downloads section, since I do not know what type of converter you may have on your CD disk.
B. Install the software on your computer after downloading it.
Next, I will show you the basic steps using the SMV converter to convert video. I'm attaching a screenshot to help guide you.

1. The first section labelled 'Files' on the SMV software, select the input video file. This is the video file that you want to convert and most likely is on your PC computer's hard drive.
2. Select the Output location. This could be a folder on your PC or a folder on your MP4 player. Most MP4 players have a folder labelled 'Video' to hold video files (Make sure your MP4 Player is connected to your PC if you want the final converted output video file to be copied directly to the player).
3. Under 'Settings', select the video size. Video size is depended on your MP4 players screen size. Please reference your MP4 player user manual to choose correct screen size if you are unsure.
4. Under the 'Selection' setting, Start should be selected.
5. After doing all of the above the next step is to click on the Convert button. The conversion process of your original file will begin, and the final converted video file will be placed in the location that you chose as your Output location, in Step 2.
6. Transcoding may take some time as it depends on the length of video you are converting and also the speed of your PC computer. Once transcoding has ended, then the newly transcoded file will be in SMV format and can be viewed on your MP4 player. _________________ etronicsland.com

Hello abomination,
Welcome to the forum. Seems like your MP4 player has a "hacked" memory. Since you just purchased it, your best bet is to return it for an exchange or full refund from the seller.
Click the link below to read more about "hacked" mp4 players. You can also search the forum for more information on problems people have had with "hacked" mp4 players.
